Lord You have made us rich beyond measure taking us from darkness to light, from death to life. You have saved us from the coming judgment and have called us to a life of faith until that day. A life marked by prayer, love, forgiveness, hospitality, and service; a life as stewards of the manifold grace of God. O Lord forgive us our sins. Forgive us when we have given silence for prayer, coldness for love, spite for forgiveness, withdrawal for hospitality, and selfishness for service. Almighty Heavenly Father, we humbly approach you this morning because we believe that your promises, revealed to us in Scripture, secured for us in Christ, and given to us by your Spirit stand true: that you will in no way cast out those who confess their sins before your and rest wholly upon your grace, mercy, and peace. So we confess our sins to you: sins of thoughts where our hearts and minds wander away from the good nourishment of your Word to linger on that which pollutes and corrupts. Sins of words where our mouths speak, not out of love but out of fear and anger. And sins of deeds where our actions reflect our selfish motives instead of your selfless love. Forgive us of our sins on account of your promised grace, transform us by your sanctifying mercy, and comfort us with your eternal peace. For Christ’s name sake we pray, Amen.

Most Gracious Heavenly Father, your Word tells us that the first and greatest commandment is to love you with all our heart and with all our soul and with all our mind.
