Lord’s Day Worship – May 29, 2022

May 26, 2022 by Micah

Morning Worship

Silent Prayer and Apostolic Greeting

1 Corinthians 1:3

Call to Worship

Psalm 47:1-4

Hymn of Adoration

God, All Nature Sings Thy Glory (Trinity Hymnal #122)

Confession of Sin

Gracious God, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, and too deep to undo. Forgive what our lips tremble to name, what our hearts can no longer bear, and what has become for us a consuming fire of judgment. Set us free from a past that we cannot change; open to us a future in which we can be changed; and grant us grace to grow more and more in your likeness and image, through Jesus Christ, the light of the world. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon

Romans 8:28-30

Confession of Faith

Nicene Creed

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of his Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all things were made; who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried; and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; and he shall come again, with glory, to judge both the living and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets;

And we believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church; we acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and we look for the resurrection of the dead, and of the life of the world to come. Amen.

Hymn of Response

Arise, My Soul, Arise (Trinity Hymnal #305)

Prayer of Supplication & Lord’s Prayer

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Morning Worship

Silent Prayer and Apostolic Greeting

1 Corinthians 1:3

Call to Worship

Psalm 148:13-14

Hymn of Adoration

Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven (Trinity Hymnal #76)

Confession of Sin

Lord, though You should guide us, we inform ourselves; though You should rule us, we control ourselves; though You should fulfill us, we console ourselves. We think Your truth too high, Your will too hard, Your power too remote, Your grace too free. But they are not! And without them, we are of all people most miserable. O Lord heal our confused minds with Your word, heal our divided wills with Your law, heal our troubled consciences with Your love, heal our anxious hearts with Your presence, all for the sake of Your Son, who loved us and gave Himself for us. Amen.

Morning Worship

Silent Prayer and Apostolic Greeting

1 Corinthians 1:3

Call to Worship

Psalm 136:1-9

Hymn of Adoration

O Love of God (Trinity Hymnal #81)

Confession of Sin

You, O Lord, have promised that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just and will forgive us. Humbly we come, seeking Your forgiveness, that we may know the joy of Your presence, the light of Your face. You alone know our hearts, how often we have offended You, how often we have offended others. Forgive us, Lord; for every unkind thought; every false word; every wrong act. Forgive us, for we have lived not for You, but for ourselves. Forgive us; for failing to give You thanks; for our neglect of prayer; our ignorance of Your word; our loss of purpose. Heavenly Father, have mercy on us. Create in us clean hearts; and renew a right spirit within us; by the blood of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

1 Corinthians 1:3

Call to Worship

Psalm 63:1-4

Hymn of Adoration

#115 All Creatures of Our God and King (Trinity Hymnal #115)

Confession of Sin

Sovereign Lord, We are harassed by doubts, fears, and unbelief, yet we choose to live in spiritual darkness. Our hearts are full of sinful thoughts and worries, and we cannot create faith in ourselves at all. When we feel that you are absent, we sink into distress and are tempted to many kinds of sin. We lie to protect ourselves, because we do not trust you with our safety, welfare, and reputation. We lie boastfully about ourselves, because we do not trust you to give us the glory that we so crave. We lie to impress people because we fear that you do not love us, so we look to the love and praise of others instead. We lie to escape the consequences of our sin. Father, forgive us for the many ways in which we lie to other, and forgive us for the deep idolatries behind those lies. Give us a confidence in you that is so bold that we will move powerfully toward one another in honesty and love. Amen.

Silent Prayer and Apostolic Greeting

1 Corinthians 1:3

Call to Worship

Psalm 92:1-4

Hymn of Adoration

O Worship the King (from Psalm 104) (Trinity Hymnal #2)

Confession of Sin

Redeeming God, We thank you for making us capable of knowing you, and for awakening our souls to desire you. Help us to approach you with reverence and awe; not with presumption or servile fear, but with holy boldness and joyful expectation. We confess to you today that we are prone to love our own wisdom better than yours. In our weakness we forget to think of you, to ask for your help, or to remember how foolish we are. In our pride and rebellion, we spurn your wise commandments and instruction. We confess to you that we find it difficult to trust you, and we fear you in all the wrong ways. You have punished your precious Son in our place and given us spiritual riches beyond imagination. Help us to believe that there is no wrath left for us, because you have poured it all out on Christ in our place. Amen.
